Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Jylan and I am a Business Administration student at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden. I am currently studying in Bangkok, Thailand, where I am doing a minor in Integrated Digital Marketing or IDM. A year ago, I could only have dreamt of this. Since my first year at NHL, I always knew i wanted to do my minors somewhere in Asia. I always liked the culture, people, food and the overall atmosphere.
Before arriving in Thailand, I had already been for 3 months in Bali for another Minor, Entrepreneurship in Action. During that minor, we had to make a start-up and create a full business plan, from concepting to financials and eventually pitching it to investors. Even though it was fake, the experience still added on to my experience. We needed to think differently and creatively. After the Bali minor, my interest was even more higher then before. I even got an internship in Bali, because I am so interested and also I would like to stay in Asia.
But even before I started my minors, I had already started my own brand; Kusuma Jewellery. Kusuma means “flower” and I just liked the name. The idea started while I was in Thailand last year. That is why i chose Digital Marketing for my second minor. I realized that only having a good product is just the beginning and if no one knows about it, then you won’t get very far. I also wanted to learn how to build an online presence, not just for my brand but also for myself.
Through my blogs, I am documenting a part of that journey. You will find three different blog posts: One is about setting personal goals for this minor, one is about cultural experiences while in Thailand and one is about my trip to japan, which is also a vlog. They all reflect what this minor has been for me.
